May is Williams Syndrome Awareness Month, a genetic disorder that is virtually unkown to the general public. We wanted to help bring awareness to this disorder in honor of Braxton Henry. The youngest son of Keith Henry, our Emergency Recovery Coordinator, and his wife Jennifer.

What is Williams Syndrome?

WS is a genetic disorder present at birth and affects 1 in 10,000 people worldwide.

Characterized by cardiovascular disease (often life-threatening), developmental delays, and learning disabilities.

Children with WS tend to be very social and friendly unlike disorders that can make connecting with your child difficult. Knowing when someone needs a laugh, hug, or joke is one of their special traits. They have an uncanny ability to know how people are feeling. They also LOVE music!

Children with WS need ongoing and costly medical care and early intervention therapies (i.e. speech and/or occupational)

We encourage everyone to check out the Williams Syndrome Association and help us bring awareness to this disorder.
